History

EPS Empowerment psycho-sozial gGmbH has a rich background.

In 2001, Rüdiger Mangel and several colleagues founded the Einzelfallhilfe e.V., an association providing psycho-social care for people with mental disabilities and support for the children of adults with mental illnesses. The geographical focus was Berlin’s Tempelhof-Schöneberg district.

In 2005, in order to better realize its objectives, the association founded a daughter organization, Einzelfallhilfe Berlin gemeinnützige GmbH. Another expansion took place in 2010 with the creation of the Gesellschaft für ambulante Betreuung und Begleitung GamBe gGmbH.

By 2015, 85 skilled staff members were working for GamBe gGmbH, which today continues to care for mentally ill and disabled people, as well as people with intellectual disabilities. It provides assistance for children and youth whose fathers or mothers suffer from mental illness, and organizes supervised work placements in creative fields (for example, a felt studio or photography workshop) for people with special capabilities due to their mental disabilities. At the end of 2015, the Einzelfallhilfe e.V. association transferred its shares in GamBe gGmbH to a larger Berlin-based provider of psycho-social care, the ZIK gGmbH (Zuhause im Kiez gGmbH).

As CEO and technical manager, Rüdiger Mangel had held executive responsibility in all three organizations. After his exit from GamBe gGmbH, he continued to lead the Einzelfallhilfe e.V. association. In September 2017, the association was transformed into a non-profit company, the EPS Empowerment psycho-sozial gGmbH.
